US Army Bases in Afghanistan

There are several dozen army bases in Afghanistan spread all over the country. These are typically more permanent facilities consisting of actual buildings laid out after well thought out plans. Unlike FOBs spread out over Afghanistan, these army bases have been chosen because of their location and its importance in long term stability in Afghanistan.

FOB (Forward Operating Bases)

Forward operating bases in Afghanistan are usually larger than outposts, but not yet large enough to be considered a COB (contingency operating base) or a Camp. Still, these army bases play a very important part in the plan to make Afghanistan a safer place for the citizens of the country and for the stability of the entire region. There are many FOBs scattered all over Afghanistan.

Future Army Bases

When it comes to army bases in Afghanistan, you can expect to see a lot more action in the second decade of the 21st century. As stability spreads across Afghanistan, the presence of US Army bases throughout the country will continue to play a major role. The future of Army bases in Afghanistan may not be set in stone for every district and province across the country, but you can be sure that the army installations that are built will be well thought out and will help tremendously with the mission in Afghanistan.
